Leonard Cerullo, MD, Discusses Stereotactic Radiosurgery

He discusses the differences between stereotactic radiosurgery and conventional or fractionated radiation treatment. He also provides an overview of the advent of stereotactic radiosurgery, the various machines used to deliver the treatment, including the Gamma Knife. Dr. Cerullo describes the manner in which stereotactic radiosurgery spares healthy brain tissue while at the same time delivering a lethal dose of radiation to the target.
